What happens when the body and spirit are no longer forced to exist as enemies?
For the third Sermon of the Hedonist Nun, we enter the Magdalene path through the mysteries of embodiment, sensation, desire, and spiritual knowing. Held beneath the Full Moon in Gemini, this class examines the binaries that have fragmented the feminine. These dualities are the virgin and whore, sacred and profane, holy and erotic, spirit and flesh, nun and hedonist.
Together, we will explore the body as a site of knowledge and revelation. The intelligence held within pleasure and grief, and the ways desire, sensation, and lived bodily experience can become methods of discernment rather than obstacles to devotion.
This sermon begins dismantling the belief that spiritual authority requires separation from the flesh. This opens us toward a Magdalene theology of the body. One in which embodiment itself becomes part of the mystery.
The body does not interfere with spiritual knowledge, it produces knowledge, and the flesh remembers.
